The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 years since the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
