19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player won his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former coach Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is his maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from that period of that year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at 21 various events.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in Halle previously this season.

His defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an better service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

He rescued four early opportunities in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
