Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed on the final weekday that Cole Palmer is ready to play for the team's vital Premier League fixture against local rivals Arsenal.

The 23-year-old England midfielder had been sidelined due to a broken toe sustained after an unfortunate incident.

“He is ready to start and participate,” Maresca commented. “The whole team is delighted.”

In the current campaign, Palmer has featured in just four games in all tournaments, netting two goals.

The Merseyside club have failed in their protest against Idrissa Gueye's red card for an on-field altercation with teammate Michael Keane during the squad's 1-0 victory at Manchester United.

Gueye immediately apologized, and the pair appeared reconciled later in a mock social media video.

“We challenged the decision and it was rejected,” manager David Moyes revealed. “We haven’t been given any reason why it was turned down but we did appeal it.”

When asked about any further fallout from the event, Moyes added: “It was over immediately, it was done, that was it, we progressed swiftly and it was all sorted within the dressing room.”
