Devastated Hong Kong Locals Shocked as Large-Scale Blaze Engulfs Housing Buildings

Young scholar a local student was among the numerous people gathered at the site of a fatal fire that engulfed much of the eight-building housing complex in Hong Kong's Tai Po area.
No fewer than over three dozen residents have died in the recent devastating fire to date, with hundreds still missing, suggesting that this number will possibly rise.
"We're facing a disaster," the student stated about the incident, adding that he had witnessed a deceased person being transported from the area.
In excess of a 1,000 additional individuals were forced to vacate the estate as the flames expanded, with several making their way to temporary facilities that have been established to house them.
The inferno is gradually being managed, but officials report they are uncertain when it will be fully extinguished.
Flames could be witnessed issuing from specific apartments as numerous people looked on in stillness.
"I feel devastated. There are so numerous neighbours and community members. I have no idea what is occurring anymore. Look, all the units are just on fire. I do not know what to accomplish. I pray the local administration can support us to find stability after this."

"This area is so proximate to the fire department and we thought the fire could be controlled quickly, but now the blaze has expanded. I'm so discouraged," she explained.
The resident noted that she had been given little guidance from the government on where to obtain support.
Multiple Tai Po community members had provided essentials to the victims - including numerous of warm layers and heat packs.
Upon questioning about their feelings regarding the blaze, residents stated that "authorities is incompetent" and that they were "immensely distraught".
"We desire not to see any further casualties," commented an individual.
A senior lady who resides in an apartment in the damaged structures explained she was away when the incident started but that she is anxious about her apartment because it is without coverage.
"I'm very distressed that I have no residence to go to now," she concluded.
